Figroll is a static website hosting service which lets developers upload client websites and servers them over a CDN. It forms part of Continuous Integration and Deployment pipelines for tens of sites (including this one)
Developed with the idea of being able to show off our core skills we can show integrations for Stripe, Sendgrid, DigitalOcean and Vultr. In addition
We tasked ourselves with solving our own problem.
How can we show our clients concepts and real live implementations of their product and show off our core competenciesAnd Figroll was born. With one command we can deploy our clients frontend site and have it served over our own CDN.
We love Golang as it is fast, you can run things concurrently and as it uses "types" it helps reduce bugs and errors. It's also one of the most widely used server side technologies with huge projects such as Docker and Kubernetes using it.
WAMP (Web Application Messaging Protocol) allows our servers to talk to eachother and receive notifications when new sites are published and removed.
CockroachDB allows us to scale our database load across regions and datacentres.
DigitalOcean and Scaleway provide us solid infrastructure to host static websites on.
Just because we're developing Figroll for ourselves doesn't mean we skimp on the Project Management. We use JIRA to ensure our software releases are tracked and our backlog is maintained.
